FARADAY CMC, SLOUGH

SOUTHERN COUNTRY MAGAZINE , NOVEMBER 2009

17TH SEPTEMBER. RED DIRT ROAD made their first visit to Faraday. Kris and Andy are Northern lads who are gaining in popularity, The guys gave a lovely mix of music for both listeners and dancers with songs such as " Cannibals", "The Gambler", and Louisianna Saturday Night".The banter between the lads and the audience made it a fun and enjoyable night for everyone. We look forward to seeing more of these gentlemen on the circuit.

GOLDEN GARTERS CWC, TREVISCOE

(SOUTHERN COUNTRY  MAGAZINE, OCTOBER 2009)

15TH AUGUST.Tonight for the first time in Cornwall was RED DIRT ROADwho are Andy on lead guitar and vocals and Kris on rhythm guitar and vocals. A very good duo with great presentation and a good programme of country music eg," Coward of the county", Three Wooden Crosses", "Brand New Girlfriend", "Tempted" etc. This duo played for everyone, dancers and listeners alike, with a few jokes that had everyone in stitches. Those not present tonight missed a very good duo. JC

DENVER JUNCTION CMC, LONDON

( SOUTHERN COUNTRY MAGAZINE, AUGUST 2009 )

12TH JUNE. After 6 and a half hours travelling, Kris and Andy had already done a days work before they got to us here in Charlton. But they gave us a good performance as RED DIRT ROAD and my two favourite songs from tonights sets were " Working Man" and "The Gambler". Songs not heard too often. Look them up  on their web site at www.reddirtroad.co.uk and see for yourself. Brilliant!

SMOKEY MOUNTAIN CMC, WYTHALL, BIRMINGHAM ( 35 years anniversary show)

( CROSS COUNTRY APRIL 2009)

Red Dirt Road maintained a full dance floor with their programme of favourite dance numbers, both past and present. They are a very smart and personable duo who would suit any club. The evening ended when the full house enjoyed an encore of "Working Man Blues" performed by ( George (Snr), George (Jnr) and Simon Payling of TEXAS GUN with Kris Davis and Andy Ash of RED DIRT ROAD. Both bands will be back at the club, on separate dates in 2010. Here's to the next 35 years!

FOSTER & MARIE PROMOTIONS, OLD MEETS NEW FESTIVAL,

CALIFORNIA SANDS, SCRATBY, NORFOLK OCTOBER 2008

RED DIRT ROAD was yet another new act at FMP festivals. They were very smart, truly professional, and their harmonising was truly superb. Again, the general atmosphere was one of easy listening and the relaxed atmosphere was exactly what one would expect from FMP’s choice of performers. They too decided to stay and enjoy the fun of the festival.

LAKESIDE COUNTRY MUSIC SHOWCASE, FRIMLEY GREEN-OCTOBER 2008

The duo RED DIRT ROAD, comprising Kris Davis and Andy Ash from Lancashire also stood out. As well as performing songs including, Past The Point Of Rescue, Brand New Girlfriend and One More Midnight, they were very entertaining and both ventured off the stage to join the crowd while singing.

CROSS COUNTRY MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 08, P81 - ALF'S TRAVELS-LEASOWE CASTLE

At Wallasey, Red Dirt Road already had the dance floor full when we arrived and continued to do so for most of the evening. The duo consists of Kris Davis, already established as a solo artist and Andy Ridehalgh, who covered many of the vocals, with Kris singing two or three with his deeper voice. They have a good combination, adding more variety to their programme which consisted of songs to suit listeners and dancers and several people were quick to tell me how much they had enjoyed Red Dirt Road and would like them back at the club.

PATHFINDER MAGAZINE, SEPTEMBER 2007    EXTRACT FROM "CHESHIRE CAT"

Finally, from The Gladstone Club, a new name but a familiar face. RED DIRT ROAD is a duo from Burnley and the familiar face was Kris Davis. Many may remember him from his duo days with Liberty Free. Kris worked initially with Steve Fields and then Kevin Anthony in that duo. I remember that Kevin used to do most of the vocals then but Kris has now carved out a busy solo career. I remember the last time that we talked at the end of last year, he told me that he was rehearsing with a duo and hoping to be on the road in May 2007, the other member being lead guitarist, Andy Ash. As promised, Andy Ash was with Kris for their second gig as a duo, although they did admit to another performance at a musician’s pub in Burnley called the “Coalclough” where fellow musicians meet, play and comment on each others performances.

Andy told me that he had only just come involved in Country Music and still continues playing on the cabaret circuit whilst they are building up the duo work.

What a terrific lead guitarist Andy is and a fine voice for vocals as well. They had quickly produced an album for their first visit titled” Five O’clock in Margaritaville” and several numbers from the album were played including Brad Paisley’s “You Need A Man Around Here”, Rita McNeal’s “Working Man” and Steve Holy’s “Brand New Girlfriend”. A fine new duo to watch out for.
